Body Bias Voltage Generators |
The design of the threshold voltage controller is critical to achieve the greatest power, performance, and yield benefits. Transmeta is developing a range of controller designs that can be quickly integrated into existing or new designs to provide both yield distribution advantages and low power consumption. These controllers determine the combination of supply and body bias voltages that minimize power dissipation at a target frequency and activity. Advanced controller designs may monitor other factors such as the temperature of the device and degradation due to aging.

The Bias Voltage Generator provides the on-chip body bias voltages for PMOS and NMOS devices determined by the Controller. Due to the low current drive required, the on-chip Bias Voltage Generator consumes very modest area and avoids the need to complicate board design and route bias pins externally.

Monitor Circuits |
Chip performance and leakage vary with changes in voltage, temperature, load, age, and other operating factors. Transmeta has developed a comprehensive set of monitor circuits that can provide continous feedback on critical parameters which the Bias Controller can use to improve bias voltage control decisions and increase the benefits of LongRun2 Technology.
